Where LOVE is a four-legged word

Therapy Dogs of Vermont (TDV) is a non-profit organization of highly-trained dogs and their volunteer handlers. Our handler/canine teams work on the emotional health of hospital patients, students in educational settings, residents of nursing/retirement homes, and correctional facilities.

Therapy Dogs of Vermont Web Survey COMING SOON

As a key part of our strategic planning effort, members, donors, and facility recipients of TDV therapy dog visits will be invited to participate in a short web survey starting on February 1st. ICF International (icfi.com), a premier survey research company, is donating its services to TDV to gather feedback from you and other members, past and present testers/evaluators, facility contacts, and donors.

If you are a member, donor, or facility/program receiving visits, and you do not receive an email to participate in the survey, but would like to, please contact us at ed@therapydogs.org

Meet our featured Therapy Dog!

Beth Barndt and Vince Mulac adopted Duck—a Norwegian Elkhound—from the Humane Society, where he’d landed as a stray when he was about one year-old. Initially, he seemed very timid,‘ducking’ whenever someone went to pat him (thus his name!). But, Beth and Vince knew that he liked small children, and thought getting him certified to visit sick children might make him, and the children, happy. During his TDV certification process,it became clear that he also liked the residents at Starr Farm, so that is where Duck has done his years of visiting as a TDV dog. In his civilian life, he barks a lot, is really sweet to small animals, and is generally impervious to cookie bribes.
